Si vous faites route vers San Francisco (ou l’inverse) par la côte et que vous aimez les produits naturels, arrêtez-vous à la Jack Creek Farms entre Templeton et Paso Robles.

En ce qui me concerne, c’est tout à fait par hasard que j’ai découvert cette pittoresque petite ferme. Retour au moins 50 ans en arrière, à l’époque où le matériel n’était pas aussi sophistiqué et automatique. Prenez le temps de vous promener dans la ferme à la recherche de champs entiers de tournesols ou de tomates.

Les petits (et les grands) pourront caresser les chèvres et les animaux de ferme, lancer le lasso ou se perdre dans un gigantesque labyrinthe en bottes de paille.

Les chats y sont les rois du monde. Ils n’attendent d’ailleurs que vous pour ronronner.

Les fermiers m’ont expliqué avec passion les différents types de miel 100% purs (sans le moindre additif). Je les ai testés et (honte à moi) j’ignorais que le goût différait en fonction de la pollinisation. J’ai aussi fait la connaissance des légumes oubliés (en tout cas oubliés de moi !) et siroté un jus de pomme confortablement installée sur un banc.

Entre traditions et nature, un endroit à ne pas manquer.

If you are heading towards San Francisco (or the other way round) along the coast and you enjoy natural produce, stop at Jack Creek Farms between Templeton and Paso Robles.

As far as I am concerned, I discovered this picturesque little farm entirely by chance. It feels like going back at least 50 years, to a time when equipment was not quite so sophisticated and automated. Take the time to wander around the farm in search of entire fields of sunflowers or tomatoes.

Children (and adults) can pet the goats and other farm animals, try their hand at lassoing or get lost in a gigantic maze made from bales of straw.

The cats are kings of the world here. In fact, they are simply waiting for you to make them purr.

The farmers passionately explained the different types of 100% pure honey to me, with no additives whatsoever. I tasted them and (shame on me) had no idea that the flavour varied depending on pollination. I also discovered forgotten vegetables (forgotten by me, at least!) and sipped apple juice while sitting comfortably on a bench.

Between tradition and nature, this is a place not to be missed.
