Entre Los Angeles et San Francisco, Paso Robles est à peine à 30 minutes de l’océan Pacifique.

Cette ville est montée en quelques années seulement sur la troisième marche du podium des vignobles californiens après Napa et Sonoma. C’est désormais une région avec laquelle il faudra compter dans la production de vins. Son histoire remonte déjà au 18ème siècle. Elle fut construite à l’emplacement d’un ancien ranch.

Grâce aux températures chaudes la journée et plutôt fraîches en soirée, Paso Robles est idéal pour la production viticole. Le sol très riche renforce encore le goût particulier des vins de la région de Paso Robles. Des labels reconnus comme Estrella, River et Lohr y sont établis et proposent chacun des dégustations de vins millésimés.

Et si vous êtes néophyte en matière de vins, la région regorge aussi de petites villes à l’ambiance résolument cowboy. La beauté des fermes et des villages est époustouflante. Cette petite vallée dans les terres, à quelques minutes de la côte, a un charme fou. Les restaurants côtoient les fermes et les magasins d’art. De nombreuses dégustations de vin sont offertes, vous n’aurez que l’embarras du choix parmi des grands noms de vins.

The vineyards of Paso Robles

Between Los Angeles and San Francisco, Paso Robles is barely 30 minutes from the Pacific Ocean.

In only a few years, the city climbed onto the third step of the podium among California’s wine regions, after Napa and Sonoma. It is now a region to be reckoned with in wine production. Its history already dates back to the 18th century, and the town was built on the site of a former ranch.

Thanks to warm daytime temperatures and rather cool evenings, Paso Robles is ideal for wine production. Its rich soil further enhances the distinctive character of the region’s wines. Well-known names such as Estrella, River and Lohr are established here and each offers tastings of vintage wines.

And if you are a wine novice, the region is also full of small towns with a decidedly cowboy atmosphere. The beauty of the farms and villages is breathtaking. This little inland valley, only minutes from the coast, is incredibly charming. Restaurants sit alongside farms and art shops. Numerous wine tastings are available, leaving you spoilt for choice among major wine names.

At CaliPaso, you can lovingly taste the wines while listening to your host recount the history of the vineyard, or stroll among the vines imagining yourself living there.
