Je vais à Disneyland Paris depuis de nombreuses années et pourtant, je n’avais jamais remarqué qu’il y avait un restaurant à la cuisine soignée dans Main Street, U.S.A. La preuve qu’on découvre de nouvelles choses à chaque visite.
Lassée des chaînes de restauration rapide du parc, le concierge de notre hôtel m’a conseillé le Walt’s – an American Restaurant, situé sur Main Street, U.S.A., à l’entrée du Parc Disneyland.
Il n’avait pas tort : ce lieu était à la hauteur de mes attentes. Le personnel de salle, disponible et aux petits soins, présentait des plats dressés avec beaucoup d’élégance. Dans ce cadre intemporel, je revivais les grands moments de Walt Disney grâce aux photographies, dessins et objets qui lui rendent hommage.
Les salles à l’étage longent les boutiques de Main Street que tout le monde connaît sans doute. Comme je passais plusieurs jours dans le parc, j’avais pu prévoir suffisamment de temps pour ce restaurant. Gens pressés s’abstenir : les plats sont servis à table et demandent à être dégustés avec lenteur.
Dans ce cadre surprenant et loin de l’animation du parc, on vit un moment dépaysant entre deux attractions. Ici, on sert une véritable cuisine et on se régale.
Le sympathique serveur, Julien, m’a fait visiter les autres salles et m’a parlé de la passion de Walt Disney pour les trains. Cette passion est très solidement documentée : Walt possédait même chez lui son propre chemin de fer miniature à vapeur, le Carolwood Pacific Railroad. Les trains occupent d’ailleurs depuis toujours une place importante dans l’univers des parcs Disney.
Je fais le tour des autres salles : elles sont toutes calmes et intimistes. On s’attend à tout moment à voir Walt Disney arriver et se mettre à table avec nous. Tout ici rend hommage au créateur de Mickey.
Les noms des salles à thème ne vous seront sans doute pas inconnus. Fantasyland affiche un style gothique orné de sculptures et de peintures. Frontierland évoque une bibliothèque. Adventureland propose une magnifique salle aux influences orientales : c’est là que j’ai déjeuné. La salle Disneyland Hotel expose de nombreux croquis évoquant l’architecture de l’hôtel, tandis que Grand Canyon présente des dessins consacrés au célèbre canyon américain. Dans la salle Discoveryland, enfin, on retrouve des illustrations liées à l’univers de Walt Disney.
À l’époque de ma visite, il fallait compter environ 70 euros minimum pour une entrée, un plat et un dessert. Les tarifs et les menus ont naturellement évolué depuis 2018 : Walt’s existe toujours aujourd’hui et Disneyland Paris le présente comme un restaurant américain avec options végétariennes, situé dans le Parc Disneyland. Pour les prix et menus actuels, mieux vaut donc consulter l’application ou le site officiel au moment de la réservation.
Une belle expérience à vivre.
I tried Walt’s – an American Restaurant at Disneyland Paris
I had been visiting Disneyland Paris for many years and yet I had never noticed that there was a restaurant serving refined food on Main Street, U.S.A. Proof that you can discover something new on every visit.
Tired of the park’s fast-food chains, I asked our hotel concierge for advice. He recommended Walt’s – an American Restaurant, on Main Street, U.S.A., near the entrance to Disneyland Park.
He was right: the restaurant lived up to my expectations. The attentive dining-room staff presented beautifully plated dishes with considerable elegance. In this timeless setting, I found myself reliving some of the great moments of Walt Disney’s story through photographs, drawings and various objects paying tribute to him.
The upstairs dining rooms run alongside the familiar shops of Main Street. As I was spending several days in the park, I had been able to allow plenty of time for the restaurant. This is not one for people in a hurry: the food is served at the table and deserves to be enjoyed slowly.
In this surprising setting, far removed from the bustle of the park, you can enjoy a genuine change of atmosphere between two attractions. This is proper cooking, and it is a pleasure to eat here.
Our friendly waiter, Julien, showed me around the other rooms and told me about Walt Disney’s passion for trains. That passion is very well documented: Walt even had his own miniature steam railway at home, the Carolwood Pacific Railroad. Trains have also always occupied an important place in the world of Disney parks.
I toured the other rooms, all of them peaceful and intimate. You almost expect Walt Disney himself to appear at any moment and sit down at the table beside you. Everything here pays tribute to the creator of Mickey Mouse.
The names of the themed rooms will probably sound familiar. Fantasyland has a Gothic style decorated with sculptures and paintings. Frontierland resembles a library. Adventureland offers a magnificent room with Oriental influences, and this is where I had lunch. The Disneyland Hotel room displays numerous sketches evoking the architecture of the hotel, while Grand Canyon features drawings devoted to the famous American canyon. Finally, Discoveryland contains illustrations linked to Walt Disney’s world.
At the time of my visit, you needed to allow at least around €70 for a starter, main course and dessert. Prices and menus have naturally changed since 2018: Walt’s is still operating today and Disneyland Paris describes it as an American restaurant with vegetarian options inside Disneyland Park. For current menus and prices, it is therefore best to check the official website or app when booking.
A lovely experience to try.
